Carrasco family history

Carrasco Family

Four generations making their initial dream come true.

We craft a unique acorn-fed Iberico Ham that defy every established convention

1895 – CREATION OF THE FAMILY BUSINESS

In 1895 Francisco Carrasco, a muleteer from Guijuelo, saw an opportunity in the arrival of the railway to this town in the province of Salamanca, thanks to a stop on the Gijón-Sevilla line. Carrasco began to take pigs from different places to the town, especially from Galicia and Extremadura, to later establish a small ham salting business.

1950 – CREATION OF THE CARRASCO BRAND

Juan Atanasio Carrasco and his brothers started the first revolution of the brand when they bought a farm for raising Iberian pigs in Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz) and built a slaughterhouse in Guijuelo (Salamanca).

1970 – CONSOLIDATION

Santos Carrasco Manzano consolidated the business and developed the brand´s personality and unique values, shaped by a laudable family tradition and a deep respect for the product. He also led the process of creating the Guijuelo Designation of Origin, thus confirming his commitment to quality and professional excellence.

1990 – THE
EXPANSION

Juan Atanasio Carrasco and Francisco Carrasco. A process of national and international expansion supported by constant innovation but maintaining the essence of the traditional process. Our own sales network, which has already taken the brand throughout the country and to more than 14 foreign markets.
